Official: Russia may lift ban on travelling to Egypt soon
CAIRO, Jan 26 (PRIME) -- Russia may lift a ban on Egyptian tourism soon, Sergei Naryshkin, speaker of the State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, told reporters following a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Ali Abdel Al on Tuesday.
“We have discussed resumption of tourist flow from Russia to Egyptian resorts in detail, and we are sure that we will resolve these issues in the near future,” Naryshkin said.
Moscow ceased flights to Egypt in November 2015 after a major Russian plane crash over the Sinai Peninsula. Russia believes that the plane was likely brought down by a bomb.
“At present, representatives and specialists of aviation authorities of our countries, representatives of authorities responsible for safety issues are actively work to develop a set of measures to insure safety of Russian tourists,” Naryshkin said.
